Krista Hagglund is a harpist, teacher, and administrator based in Richmond, Virginia. Her multi-faceted career has led her to performances and teaching opportunities in the United States and abroad.
She is the Program Manager at GreenSpring International Academy of Music where she works in operations, event planning, and outreach initiatives. Additionally she is a member of their music faculty where she teaches harp and piano lessons to students of all ages.
She has over a decade of experience performing for a wide array of events such as weddings, fundraisers, and galas. In an effort to bring music to the community, Krista performs in a variety of locations from concert halls to gardens to museums.
In addition to her active role as an administrator, Krista frequently performs solo, chamber, and orchestral works. She has worked with conductors such as Richard Kaufmann, Gennady Rozdhestvensky, and Miguel Harth-Bedoya. She is a member of both the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and Baylor Wind Ensemble. Krista’s expressive playing has led her to stages and festivals across the continent. She participated in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute, Summer Horizons at the Eastman School of Music, and the Young Artist Harp Seminar. She was a concerto winner of the Bob Jones University Concerto and Aria Competition and performed Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro with the BJU Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dr. Michael Moore.
As a chamber musician, she frequently performs in both traditional and innovative settings. Although she and her colleagues enjoy playing on a concert stage, they also enjoy bringing music to others at assisted living and memory care facilities and in the community.
Krista’s passion to inspire others through music has led her to teach harp and piano lessons. She currently teaches harp and piano lessons at GreenSpring International Music Academy. She also completed a two-year internship in collaboration with Piano Central in Greenville, South Carolina. During this internship she taught private piano lessons and created lesson plans, taught group lessons, and studied various piano methods available. For two summers she taught harp lessons at Bob Jones University EduCamp where she worked with high school harpists as a teacher and ensemble coach.
Krista holds a Master of Music in Harp Performance from Baylor University and Bachelor of Music degrees in Harp Performance and Piano Pedagogy from Bob Jones University. Her harp teachers include Dr. Karen Thomas, Emily Waggoner, Marguerite Lynn Williams, and Megan Sesma.
